Energy Markets is responsible for maximizing the value of Hydro’s power portfolio and for providing energy portfolio management for our aluminium activities in Europe and Brazil. We are looking for summer interns who have strong commercial instincts and the ability to convert analytical skills to value-enhancing strategies.
We are looking for two interns to the Energy Markets unit. As a student in Hydro, you take part in our joint efforts to create a more viable world where value creation, climate and energy go hand in hand; through continuous innovation, technological development and commercial skills, and by providing benefit to society through smart solutions in aluminum. Area of Responsibility
Project work related to the business unit’s ongoing activities. A more detailed description will be provided later and will be adjusted to the students' competencies. Quantitative skills, such as big data handling, are highly appreciated for these positions. Students with geophysichal background are welcome to apply, as weather and hydrology competence is key for the unit.
Possible tasks could be projects within:
- Energy market analysis
- Hydropower optimization
- Trading & Hedging department
- Analysis of meteorological and hydrological data and forecasts
Hydro is the second largest power producer in Norway and the largest power consumer. The Energy unit does not only optimizes the power plants, but also the smelters participation in the power market within a total portfolio. It is a lean organization where you can get a very good insight in how a Power Production company is operated.
- Minimum three years of completed studies in Engineering, mathematics, statistics, metrology, hydrology or other relevant
- Good academic results
- Good communication and cooperation skills
- Engagement through student activities is an advantage
- Competence in data handling and programming in R, Excel or similar is an advantage.
