The foundry alloy and sheet ingot casthouses in Øvre Årdal produce around 220 000 tons of semi-finished products per year. Foundry alloys are commonly used in car parts such as wheels, engine and suspension parts, and structural components, whereas sheet ingots are used to produce foil, plates for (i) offset-print, (ii) building and construction and (iii) automotive industry. We are working with continues improvement in all production processes on a every day basis, upgrading our operator knowledge base, establishing a pro-active approach increasing the performance of our casthouse. Understanding the underlying link between historic production data, process parameters and scrap rates is fundamental to keeping a competitive edge in our key markets.

Area of Responsibility
The internship is related to finding process data solutions associated with Hydro`s ambition to be leading in Industry 4.0. The possible candidate will continue to work with and implement learnings from a project called “Scrap rate analytics” into the busy workday of a production site. Analysis of data from our history client - server or cloud services with the aid of Python/Matlab will be essential. Main focus will be on multivariable regression analysis.
- Minimum three years of completed studies in Cybernetics/IT
